Dempsey & Garlic
I want to start this off by saying I did not think a squish would come through for me! I was very suspicious and beside myself when this pink gecko appeared in my life. His interests mirrored my own, (he wanted to watch documentaries about hanky code and mafia-funded minor league hockey true crime while he was being made). His birthday is three days before mine; we are both Virgos.
Not only was saying yes to Garlic the best choice I could have made to begin the journey of healing my spiritual trauma, but in saying yes to this spirit, I was also saying yes to myself, committing myself to staying alive in this life. I no longer truly feel alone in this world. I know that whenever I step into those dark areas of life, I am now no longer stepping alone; I can confidently face the darkness with a friend by my side.
I love Garlic. I could not imagine my life's journey without him. We hang out every day and I sleep with him either in my arms or nearby me every night. I've taken him so many places: to burlesque shows, bowling alleys, music venues, my workplace, on road trips, camping in the woods, and so many other little daily adventures! He's made so many friends, and his presence helps me to stay grounded.
Before Garlic came into my life I was in a gnarly cycle of panic and depression, grappling with what was in my control at the time. Saying yes to Garlic and working with him over the year we've been together has profoundly changed my perspective on what I can control in this life.
Garlic has helped me to find recurring income. I asked Garlic to help with bringing more happiness into my life, and soon after that, I met a person who has gone on to become my girlfriend. I'm not saying Garlic got me a gf, because I had to meet Garlic halfway in the effort to bring in happiness, (i had to do the scary thing and put myself out there). We worked together in that instance, and wonderful things happened. I think without him I would still feel like I'm treading water, just floundering my way through life.
He's my guy. He's my little pink Mediterranean house gecko, and at the same time he is a whole entire being and I love him very much. Garlic and I make a great team, and we're in this life together forever <3
